our tax dollars at work: I recently reported on the taxpayer-paid security tab for Perry's foreign travel. Here's how the security expenses broke down for one trip he and his wife, Anita, made to France and Sweden June 2-10, 2008, for a trade and investment conference and recruitment mission: The total cost of just more than $126,800 included $16,931.63 in meals and other expenses; $34,784.98 in hotels; $20,574.04 in car rental; $21,254.01 in airfare; $18,415.51 in base pay for the officers; and $14,840.35 in overtime.
